The Nepal Army has announced 280 vacant Officer Cadet positions under the Military General Service through open and inclusive competition. The Recruitment Selection Directorate, Army Headquarters, published the vacancy notice for the first time on 2083/04/29.
Eligible Nepali citizens can apply online through the Nepal Army's vacancy portal. However, completing the online form alone is not enough. Candidates must print the submitted form and personally submit it, along with the required documents and payment voucher, at one of the designated Recruitment Selection Centers.

Nepal Army Officer Cadet Application Date
The application can be submitted during the regular-fee period from 2083/04/29 to 2083/05/18. Candidates who miss the regular application period can submit their applications with a double fee from 2083/05/19 to 2083/05/25.

Nepal Army Officer Cadet Application Fee
Every candidate must apply under the open category and pay an application fee of Rs. 1,000. Candidates who also apply under an inclusive category must pay an additional 20 percent, which is Rs. 200, for each additional group.
When depositing the fee, candidates must enter the name of the Recruitment Selection Center where they are applying, along with the office code, bank account number and revenue heading number.
The original bank voucher and one photocopy of the voucher must be personally submitted with the application form.

Nepal Army Officer Cadet Educational Qualification
Certificate Level or Class 12
Candidates applying with Certificate Level or equivalent qualifications must have passed Certificate Level or 10+2 from a recognized institution.
For certificates issued before the implementation of the Letter Grading Directive, 2078, candidates must have a minimum GPA of 2 or CGPA of 1.6 or above, and no subject can have a grade below D+.
For certificates issued according to the 2078 directive, candidates must have a GPA of 1.6 or above.
Bachelor's Level
Candidates applying on the basis of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification must have passed a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Important: Regardless of whether a candidate applies with Certificate Level or Bachelor's Level qualification, Mathematics must have been taken as a compulsory subject in the SEE examination.
The military basic training period for graduate Officer Cadets will be 12 months.
Nepal Army Officer Cadet Physical Requirements
Male Candidates
- Minimum height: 5 feet 3 inches
- Chest: 32 inches unexpanded and 34 inches expanded
- Minimum weight: 50 kg or 110 pounds
Female Candidates
- Minimum height: 5 feet
- Minimum weight: 40 kg or 88 pounds
Eyesight Requirement
For both male and female candidates, if spectacles are used, the eye power must not exceed ±2.
Other Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must meet the additional conditions specified in the vacancy notice. They must be declared medically fit and must meet the required standards concerning conduct and service eligibility.
- The candidate must be declared fit through a medical examination.
- The candidate must not have been convicted of a criminal offense involving moral turpitude.
- The candidate must not be a member of any political party.
- The candidate must not have been involved in any criminal activity.
- The candidate must not have been punished for human rights violations.
- The candidate must not have been dismissed in a manner that disqualifies them from future government service.
Nepal Army Officer Cadet Age Limit
Certificate Level or Class 12 Candidates
Candidates must have completed 18 years of age and must not have exceeded 21 years as of the final application date, 2083/05/18.
Date of birth: From 2062/05/18 to 2065/05/18.
Bachelor's Level Candidates
Candidates must have completed 18 years of age and must not have exceeded 24 years as of 2083/05/18.
Date of birth: From 2059/05/18 to 2065/05/18.
Serving Military Candidates
Serving military candidates must not have exceeded 26 years of age as of the final application date, 2083/05/18.
Date of birth: On or after 2057/05/18.
Additional Requirements for Serving Nepal Army Candidates
Serving Nepal Army candidates must have completed military basic training. They must also have completed at least two years of service as of 2083/05/18.
A recommendation from the candidate's Unit Commander must also be submitted.
Required Documents for Officer Cadet Application
Candidates must self-certify and submit one copy of each required document in a Nepali file. Documents containing erasures or overwriting will not be accepted. Candidates must also bring the original documents for verification.

- SEE grade sheet or mark sheet, character certificate and original or provisional certificate.
- Certificate Level or Class 12 transcript, character certificate and original or provisional certificate.
- For Bachelor's degree holders, transcript, character certificate and original or provisional certificate.
- Equivalency certificate from the Curriculum Development Centre or Tribhuvan University for qualifications obtained from boards or universities outside Nepal.
- Certificates related to extracurricular activities and other fields outside academic qualifications.
- For children of Nepal Army personnel who died or became disabled during military training or in the line of duty, required documents include certification of martyrdom or disability, relationship verification, pension document or certified copy specifying martyrdom, death or disability in the line of duty, along with a recommendation letter from the Military Board for serving personnel.
- One copy of the document certifying the candidate's relationship with the concerned person.
Photograph Requirements
Candidates must submit four recent passport-size photographs clearly showing the full face, including both ears. One additional 2x2-size photograph is also required.
Serving military personnel must have their photographs taken in uniform.

Nepal Army Officer Cadet Selection Process
The selection process for Officer Cadet candidates includes several stages. Candidates must successfully proceed through the required examinations and assessments.

- Physical examination

- Written examination conducted by the Public Service Commission
- Assessment tests including T.O., G.T.O., I.O. and Board Conference
- Detailed medical examination
- Board interview
Except for the preliminary selection, the other examinations will be conducted at locations designated by the Recruitment Selection Directorate.
Salary, Allowances and Other Benefits
Salary, allowances, rations and other facilities for the selected candidates will be provided according to the prevailing rules and provisions of the Nepal Army.
Other Important Conditions
- Candidates employed by the Government of Nepal or any other institution must compulsorily submit departmental approval.
- Candidates applying under inclusive categories may compete under only one community category.
- The restriction on competing in only one community category does not apply to women.
- Male and female candidates from backward areas may also compete under the Backward Area quota.
- Women will be included in Combat Related Duties, Combat Support and Combat Service Support, except in units assigned Direct Combat Duties or Close Combat Roles involving direct front-line combat.
- Candidates must be unmarried and may not marry during the training period, except for serving military personnel.
- A candidate may apply through only one Recruitment Selection Center.

Special Notice Regarding Inclusive Groups
The vacancy notice also includes a special provision concerning inclusive groups. According to the writ of mandamus issued by the Honorable Supreme Court on 2079/10/24 in certiorari petitions, including Writ No. 078-WO-0382, where the Nepal Army, Recruitment Selection Directorate and others were named as respondents, necessary legal arrangements are to be made regarding inclusive groups.
After the required legal arrangements are made, compensation for positions actually lost because they were not included from Fiscal Year 079/80 onward will be handled according to law. This will be based on the proportion of positions falling under inclusive groups out of the total number of positions determined thereafter.
For the present, the notice has been published to fill the positions according to the prevailing law.
